Abstract

981,921. Building units; walls and partitions. J. L. CLAUDE. Aug. 7, 1962, No. 30235/62. Headings E1B and E1V. [Also in Division F4] The walls of an enclosure 21 each comprise an outer wall 58, an inner wall 8 and an intermediate partition 5 defining outer and inner air ducts 10 and 14 which are in respective communication with ducts 11 and 13 similarly formed in the ceiling. The walls and ceiling of the enclosure are formed from blocks which, as shown in Fig. 3, comprise a metal or plastics framework 45 having outer and inner panels 26, 38 mounted on opposite faces thereof by spacers 27 and 40 respectively. Panels 26 and 38 thus form part of the outer and inner walls of the ceiling or wall of the enclosure while the intermediate partition thereof is formed by panels 35 secured directly to the inner face of the frame 45. Panel 26 is covered by a weather resistant panel 25 and is provided with panels 30 and 34 of heat and sound insulating material on its inner side, a further panel 36 of heat and sound insulating material being provided on the outer side of panel 35. Panels 25, 26, 35 and 38 may be made of plywood, fibro-cement or plastics material, panels 25 and 38 alternatively being formed of metal or cement material, while panels 30, 34 and 36 are formed of expanded cork, polyvinyl foam, expanded polystyrene or porous ceramic material.
