Abstract

988,279. Partitions. K. KNAUF, and A. KNAUF. Feb. 1, 1963 [Feb. 3, 1962], No. 4277/63. Heading E1V. A partition includes a structural member comprising two rigid elongated members 9 separated by a compressible member 15, wall panelling 11, 19 attached on each side of the wall to one of the members 9 and channel sectioned elements (not shown) receiving the ends of the structural member within the channels and glued by way of a layer of compressible material to a wall, ceiling or floor of the space to be partitioned. Similar channel sectioned elements 7, additional to those receiving the ends of the structural member are provided at the edges of the partition running parallel to the structural members, such additional channels 7 also being glued by way of a layer 4 of compressible material to the wall or the like of the space being partitioned. Screws 12 secure the panelling to the members 9 and to the flanges of the channels secured to the walls &c. The members 9 are connected to the member 15 by fillets 16, 18 of adhesive plaster or by screws, rivets or clips. Mineral wool 20, and plasterboard strips 22 or sandfilled bodies may be secured to opposed internal surfaces of the panelling to improve the sound insulating properties of the partition.
