Abstract

461,706. Partition walls; ventilating-passages. FISK, E. T. Oct. 23, 1935, No. 29235. [Classes 20 (iv) and 137] A sound-reducing ventilating partition wall comprises two or more panels spaced apart with a sound baffle between the pairs of panels so as to offer a high resistance to the passage of sound waves but a low resistance to air. A pair of panels 6, with or without a facing 5 of sound absorbing material such as felt are attached to a frame comprising studding 3 and floor and ceiling plates 10, the panels being of such height as to leave ventilation openings between them and the floor and ceiling respectivelv. Baffles 4, faced with sound absorbing material, project from the floor and ceiling into the space between the panels and are of such dimensions as to leave spaces between them and dividing shelves 7 respectively. The sides 8 of the ventilation openings and the shelves 7 may also be covered with sound absorbing material. The frame is insulated from the floor and ceiling and also the shelves 7 from the partition panels, by means of felt pads 9. The frame is held in position by means of bolts insulated from the floor or ceiling.
