[Class 7 (ii)] [Also in Groups XIII and X] Silencing-equipment for air ducts or tunnels comprises sheets or panels of plywood or metal which are fixed at varying distances from the walls of the enclosure, to provide an air cushion of sufficient thickness to absorb low sound frequencies. In Fig. 1, the walls A may be lined with sound-absorbing material, and metal boards or boxes C are spaced from the walls to leave air spaces D. The boards or boxes may consist of perforated metal sheets E backed with porous material such as slag wool, and when boxes are used, some may be empty and some filled with porous material. In Fig. 2, the spaces between the walls and overlapping boards C' may be filled with boxes H of various sizes, and with slag wool. The sheets or panels may be of honeycomb section.
