Abstract

1,082,716. Partitions; building panels; door jambs. E. F. HAUSERMAN CO. Nov. 25, 1964 [Dec. 12, 1963], No. 47964/64. Headings E1B, EIJ and EIW. A building panel comprises a board 20, Fig. 3, e.g. of gypsum, having metal sheets 21, 32 bonded respectively to its front and back faces, the sheet 32 extending beyond the edge of the board where it is bent at 34, 35 and 36 to form a rearwardly open channel, and the sheet 21 extending beyond the edge of the board where it is bent at 24 and 28 to enclose the channel and provide a flange restricting the opening cf the channel. The panels are mounted to form a partition by resiliently engaging the channels over projections 241, 242, Fig. 11, formed upon interior posts 42 which are of latticed box section formed by pairs of channels secured together. The partition comprises also posts and horizontal rails of I section, the edges of the panels which need not comprise channel formations formed by extensions of the sheets 21, 32, being pressed against the inside faces of the flanges of the I sections by resilient clips bolted to the webs of the sections. The partition may also comprise a door jamb 98, Fig. 5 and extruded sections 99 used to form T junctions with other partition panels and with floors, ceilings and walls. The specification also describes a partition corner joint structure formed by a pair of extruded aluminium section members, Fig. 6 (not shown).
