Abstract

1,140,311. Soundproof doors; panels. OVERLY MFG. CO. 18 Jan., 1967 [8 Sept., 1966], No. 2665/67. Headings E1B and E1J. A sound-attentuating partition or-door panel comprises front and rear panel face plates joinedby; edge members 4, 5, at least one semi-flexible septum 10 therewithin substantially parallel to the plates 2, 3 and spaced therefrom, at least one stiffening member 7, 8 abutting against a face plate 2 or 3 and the septum 10 and a filling of sound-impervious material (rockwool P) elsewhere. The septum 10 is preferably of lead 11 and foam rubber 12. Two septums are shown, but there may be only one. The sealing method used at the sides of various partitions or panels are as shown, but. there are various forms of sealing methods usable at the top and bottom. The edge members include perforations admitting sound to the sound-impervious material.
