Abstract

1297757 Soundproof doors; partitions OVERLY MFG CO 19 April 1971 [4 Sept 1970] 27020/71 Headings E1J and E1W A soundproof door or partition comprises a frame which carries one or more panels in receptacles on each face, the panels each being of a hollow construction and carrying an inner, non-rigid limp septum. In the embodiment shown, a door has a hollow metal frame 20 filled with sand, and panels 50 and 52 with metal facing sheets 54, 56 fixed to a hollow, filled frame 58 to which is also attached the septum 66, which is of lead vinyl. Each panel also has vertical stiffeners 70 and is filled with rockwool. Each panel is located around its periphery by a U-sectioned gasket, e.g. 74. The space between the panels contains vertical braces 86 and rockwool 88. At the bottom of the door, pockets 90 and 92 are provided inside the frame and a pocket 94 is provided outside the frame, each with an apertured external surface, and filled with rockwool. In the embodiment of Figs. 4-6 (not shown), each door frame has three panels on each face.
