Abstract

720,568. Windows. PERSSON, E. S. May 21, 1952 [June 20, 1951], No. 12905/52. Class 20 (3). A sash frame having two window panes 16, 18, Fig. 1, comprises a frame member 10 extending along three edges of the window panes and forming round corners 12 therebetween, and a straight frame member 14 extending along the fourth edge, the latter being removably connected, as by screws, to the member 10 and forming a holder for, or a head of, a Venetian blind or other screening device. The blind may be located between the panes or inside the inner one. To prevent condensation on the inside of the sash frame, the frame may be divided into an outer and inner part frame 10a, 10b, Fig. 6, respectively, thermally insulated from each other by a packing 30. The frame part 10b has a flange 32, covered with packing 34, to provide sealing between the sash and the surrounding frame or wall surface. The straight frame member is similarly formed of members 14a, 14b, separated by packing 36. In a modification, each member 10, 14 is formed as a single member provided with channels for receiving the glass panes 16, 18 and provided with a flange parallel to the planes of the window panes. If the frame is pivoted about a horizontal axis midway of the frame, the flange extends upwardly along the vertical sides approximately to the pivot axis and corresponds to a similar flange on the frame above the pivot axis.
