Abstract

701,393. Glazing windows. COTTON, A. V. Dec. 18, 1951 [Feb. 26, 1951], No. 4612/51. Class 20 (3) A cushioning and/or insulating strip 9 made e.g. of rubber, felt, cork, &c. is accommodated in a recess 8 along the inside of a metal sash adjacent an inwardly directed flange 5 to lie flush with the inner surface of the frame so that when a pane 6 is set, e.g. with putty, against the flange 5 with an intervening layer of putty 7 the edges of the pane bear against the strip 9 which protects the pane against breaking due to expansion and contraction of metal &c. Horizontal members and vertical members, not shown, are recessed along each side. In a modification a projection 9a on an L-shaped strip is adapted to lie along the flange 5 and replaces the layer of putty 7.
