Abstract

833,992. Windows. CARR, H., and CARR, R. V., [trading as METAL WINDOW SERVICES CO.]. Nov. 7, 1956 [Nov. 12, 1955; Dec. 7, 1955], Nos. 32390/55 and 35062/55. Class 20(3) A window comprises a wooden frame 1 having a rebate 4 around its inner edge 2 to receive a resilient sealing strip 5 which, when the window is closed, is engaged by the inner flange 3b of a Z-section metal sash frame 3. A pane 6 is secured by putty 7 to the inner flange 3b of the frame 3, the outer flange 3a of which overlaps the frame 1 adjacent the rebate 4. In a modification a sliding pane is mounted in guide channels in an auxiliary frame secured to the inner side of the frame 1, the part of the auxiliary frame -which receives the sliding pane when open being provided with a cover board accommodated in a cavity in the surrounding wall structure. A resilient strip is fitted into a rebate in the vertical side of the auxiliary frame which is engaged by the sliding pane when it is shut. There may also be a resilient strip between the opposite stile of the frame 1 and the sliding panel. In a further modification, Fig. 5, four sliding panels 24...27 are arranged on the inner side of window composed of side hinged sashes 18, 19, central fixed panes 20, 21 and upper fanlights 22, 23.
