[Also in Group XIII] A combustion chamber 18 in a gas turbine plant is provided with a cooling jacket formed between walls 16, 17b, cooling air being supplied to the jacket through a duct 14. Air under pressure is preheated in a rotary regenerative heatexchanger (see Group XIII) and the coolest air i.e. that which passes through the coolest portion of the regenerator matrix is directed to the duct 14 and used for cooling the combustion chamber, the remaining air passing to the primary air cone 16b and the secondary air inlets 16c of the combustion chamber. ; The cooling jacket may be a continuity of a passage provided in the wall of the regenerator housing, Fig. 4 (not shown).
