Abstract

699,166. Generating combustion products under pressure. MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Feb. 5, 1952 [March 21, 1951], No. 3057/52. Class 51(i) [Also in Group XXVI] In a combustion chamber of a gas turbine plant using gaseous fuel only a part of the fuel is burnt with combustion air introduced from outside, the remainder of the gaseous fuel is separately introduced into the combustion chamber so as to reduce the temperature of the combustion gases and walls of the combustion chamber. In the arrangement shown, the fuel gas is compressed in a compressor 5 and preheated in a recuperator 2 before passing to a combustion chamber 3 feeding a turbine 4 which exhausts through the recuperator 2. Only a part of the fuel gas is burnt in the combustion chamber 3 with air supplied by the compressor 1, the remainder is passed through a line 6 to mix with the combustion products before they enter the turbine. The exhaust of the turbine 4 may be used as a gaseous fuel for other purposes.
