Abstract

Class 110(3) In a steam generating plant having a sealed furnace Fc supercharged by an accessory arrangement and wherein combustion takes place under a pressure greater than the atmospheric pressure due to the fact that air in excess of that required for combustion is fed directly or indirectly thereto under pressure by an air compressor C, the accessory arrangement comprises a combustion chamber F which is supplied with air by the compressor and discharges hot motive gases into a turbine T, the whole of the power of which is used for driving the compressor. As shown the furnace is fed directly with air from the compressor by means of a tapping S and indirectly by way of the turbine T, heaters R, R<SP>1</SP> being incorporated in said circuits. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the compressed air from the tapping S is mixed with the exhaust gases from the turbine prior to entering the furnace. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the whole of the output of the compressor is fed to the furnace by way of the turbine. The heater R is optional.
