Abstract

805,786. Gas-turbine plant. HENSCHEL & SOHN G.m.b.H. Sept. 12, 1955 [Sept. 10, 1954], No. 26018/55. Class 110 (3). A gas-turbine plant fed with combustible fuel gas from a gas producer in. which the fuel gas is cleansed and then expanded in an auxiliary turbine to the pressure of the gas turbine combustion chamber and the auxiliary turbine drives an additional compressor which further compresses a controllable part of the air discharged by the gas turbine compressor to the pressure of the gas producer, has a small secondary combustion chamber disposed in front of the auxiliary turbine into which chamber the entire quantity of fuel gas and a controllable portion of the air delivered by the additional compressor is introduced. A compressor 1 discharges air through a control valve 5 and a heat exchanger 6 to the combustion chamber 8 which supplies combustion products to a turbine 18 driving the compressor 1. The exhaust gases from the turbine 18 pass to atmosphere through the heat exchanger 6. A portion of the air discharged by the compressor 1 is branched off at the valve 5 and further compressed by a compressor 10. Part of the air discharged from the compressor 10 is fed as gasifying air to the gas producer 13. The fuel gas from the gas producer is fed, after cleaning, to an additional combustion chamber 15 where it is partly burnt with air taken from the discharge of the compressor 10 through the regulating valve 12. The mixture of fuel gas and combustion products from the combustion chamber 15 is expanded in a turbine 17 and then led to the combustion chamber 8 where the combustion of the fuel gas is completed by air from the compressor 1. The turbine 17 drives the compressor 10 as well as the pumps 21, 25, which supply water to the intercooler 3 and the gas producer 13 respectively. An auxiliary electric motor 28 may also be provided. The gas turbine 18 also drives an electric generator 29.
