Class 110(3) A gas turbine plant as claimed in Specification 744,592 has combined with it an interchangeable air heating unit comprising a combustion chamber, an air chamber in which air is heated by the hot gas in the combustion chamber and a third auxiliary turbine. The gas turbine plant claimed in Specification 744,592 comprises an internal combustion turbine, 10, Fig. 1, as claimed in the parent Specification combined with a secondary internal combustion chamber 19 which feeds a first auxiliary turbine 25 and a second auxiliary turbine 37, the second auxiliary turbine being also fed with the exhaust gases from the turbine 10 through a duct 18a. The air heating unit attached to the casing 18 comprises a casing 28 formed with an annular air chamber 29. A third auxiliary turbine 41 is attached to the exhaust duct of the auxiliary turbine 37. A compressor (not shown) supplied with air through the hollow shaft 15 discharges through the chamber 29, where the air is heated by hot gas from the combustion chamber 40 to the combustion chambers 16 of the turbine 10. When the pressure of the air in the chamber 29 reaches a predetermined value, a control valve 46 is opened and air passes into the passage 18a to scavenge the exhaust gases in the combustion chamber 40 through the turbines 37, 41. Fuel is injected intermittently into the chamber 40. There is a constant flow of hot compressed air through the valve 46 to the chamber 40 whereby, in timed sequence, spent gases are scavenged and then a combustible charge formed which is subsequently exploded. Some of the compressed air passing through the bush 23 is passed through holes 23a, 22a to cool the bearings 21.
