Abstract
563,918. Elastic fluid turbines. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. May 10, 1943, No. 7395. Convention date, May 2, 1942. [Classes 110 (i) and 110 (iii)] In an exhaust-gas driven turbo-blower, means to prevent the air being compressed from being heated by the hot gases comprises an air space 8 between the turbine and compressor rotors 4, 5 respectively, and insulating material 18 between the inner casing walls 16, 17. Air from blades 9 flows between diffusor blades 10 into a volute chamber 11, and thence to a reciprocating internal-combustion engine, furnace of a steam producer, the combustion chamber of a gas turbine, or to be used in chemical or metallurgical processes. The turbine gases flow inwards from a chamber 12, but the flow may be reversed. A spring ring 6 is provided on the rotor 4.
