[Class 110 (iii)] In a turbine driven by exhaust gases for operating a supercharger, the rotor a, with the exception of the rim, is open to the air for cooling purposes. The air may enter the rotor chamber through an annular conduit e arranged between the casing of the supercharger b and the casing d enclosing the rotor rim. The rotor may have ports f for the passage of the air or may carry blades g for drawing the air through the conduit e.
