639,617. Generating combustion products under pressure. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 27, 1947, No. 31441. Convention date, Feb. 1, 1946. [Class 51 (i)] [Also in Groups XXVI and XXVIII] A combustion chamber particularly for a gas turbine plant has a liner 7 with one end closed by a hemispherical dome 10 having a central opening 60 to receive the fuel nozzle 32 and openings 40 arranged to direct a thin sheet of air 49 over the inner surface of the dome towards the central opening. The liner is surrounded by an outer housing 11 coupled to an air adapter pipe 2. The dome is supported by brackets 34a from the adaptorpipe and has circumferentially-spaced projections 42 engaging the inner surface of the liner so as to form arcuate slots which direct a thin layer of air axially along the inner surface of the liner. An expansion joint 18 is provided between the end of the outer housing 11 and the adjacent enlarged end of the air adapter pipe. Specification 590,422, [Group XXVI], is referred to.
