Class 51(i) [Also in Group XI] In a combustion chamber for a gas turbine engine in which liquid fuel and air are supplied to a part in contact with the flame zone so that the fuel is vapourized before combustion, and comprising a plurality of combustion chambers, an interconnector pipe or auxiliary chamber 13 opens into two adjacent combustion chambers 10, 10a and a single fuel nozzle 16a is disposed in the interconnector pipe so as to direct a stream of atomized fuel along the axis of the pipe towards the opening to one of the combustion chambers 10, and ignition means 17 are disposed in the path of the stream of fuel. The stream of fuel causes a flow of air from the other chamber 10a so as to support combustion of the atomized fuel. The invention is shown applied in the case of airjacketed type combustion chambers and the interconnector pipe is disposed in an outer casing 14. A fuel nozzle 18 delivers atomized fuel into a combustion chamber towards the discharge opening 19 of the vapourizing tubes 20. Only one torch igniter, i.e. a fuel nozzle 16a and ignition means 17, is necessary in the interconnector pipes between the chambers, although more than one may be employed. The torch igniter is turned off once combustion is started. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 614,481, [Group XXVI].
