Abstract
586,602. Gas turbines. SMITH, D. M., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. July 24, 1944, No. 14149. [Class 110 (iii)] The air from the compressor 1 driven by the gas turbine 3, is divided to flow in two channels, one to the inner or primary combustion chamber 4b wherein are located the fuel nozzles 4a and the other to the heat exchanger 6 in the turbine exhaust passage 7 and thence to the " secondary " combustion chamber, or cooling space 4c. The two streams mix at the outlet of the primary chamber and flow together to the turbine 3. In a modification, part of the " secondary " air. passes direct to the " secondary " combustion through pipes 5c. Specification 585,959 is referred to.
