Abstract
663,398. Gas turbine plant. SIMMERING- GRAZ-PAUKER, AKT.-GES. FUR MASCHINEN-, KESSELUND WAGGONBAU, and LEDINEGG, M. March 4, 1949 [Nov. 26, 1948], No. 5995/49. Class 110(iii) [Also in Group XII] Pulverulent fuel is burnt in a chamber 5 at a temperature which produces liquid slag. The slag is thrown on to the chamber walls by the whirling of the gases and is drawn off at 12. The walls are cooled by buried pipes 4 through which air from a heat-exchanger 2 is circulated. The air is afterwards collected in a chamber 7 and passed through nozzles 8 into the combustion gases. The gases are cleaned in a cyclone separator 13 in front of the turbine 14. The pipes 4 are connected by a heater 6 and the flows in adjacent pipes are in opposite directions. There may be two exhaust heat-exchangers; the air being passed through the second one before reaching the pipes 4 and through the first one before being added to the combustion gases. In this case, the flow in all the pipes 4 is in one direction. Alternatively, the air passes straight from'the compressor to the pipes 4 and is heated by the exhaust gases before mixing with the combustion gases. The heat remaining in the gases after the heatexchanger is used in a steam generator. Specification 616,864 is referred to.
