Abstract

[Class 110(iii)] .[Also in Group XXVIII] In a gas turbine plant, the gases from the combustion chamber are passed through an extractor element where substances deleterious to the turbine are deposited. The element may comprise several staggered rows of hollow blades or undulating hollow guides between which the gases are passed. Cooling fluid is passed through the blades or guides. The fluid may be air taken from and returned to the air duct either before or after the heat-exchanger. Or, it may be an external fluid and the heat absorbed by it recovered in an air-heater. The extractor element may be placed between two combustion chambers, cheap fuel being used in the first chamber and fuel which does not produce deleterious substances, being used in the second chamber. Two extractor elements may be arranged in parallel, so that one can be cleaned whilst the other is in operation.
