Abstract

713,260. Operating clutches. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd June 3, 1952 [June 16, 1951], No. 14315/51. Class 80 (2) [Also in Group V] In a rotary-key clutch (shown in exploded form in Fig. 6) the radially-movable key 47 is normally engaged by a key-activating member 46 supported in an axiallymovable housing 45. To release the key handle 55 is turned and acts through levers 56, 51 and links 53 to withdraw the member 46. The key thereupon engages an internal tooth of the revolving clutch member 44 thus causing the shaft 41 to revolve. The member 46 is held in the withdrawn position by means of a pivoted catch 59 which is released after a fraction of a revolution by means of a cam 43 mounted on the shaft 41 and allows the member 46 to return. After a complete revolution has been performed the key 47 re-engages the member 46 and is disengaged from the toothed member 44. Specification 711,055, [Group V]. is referred to.
