710,544. One-revolution clutches. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP ONTWIKKELING- MAATSCHAPPIJ POLYNORM. July 1, 1952 [July 7, 1951], No. 16574/52. Class 80 (2) [Also in Group XXXIV] An internal expanding band clutch 4 and brake 5, carried by the rotatable driven member 2 of a one-revolution device, are identical, but with their tangentially-acting expanding levers 14 and operating toggles 16, 17 therefor arranged oppositely and on a common actuating shaft 20, turning of which from the full-line position, Fig. 2, to the dotted line position engages the clutch 4 with a continuously rotating driving member 1 whilst releasing the brake 5 from a fixed member 3 and vice versa. This engaging movement is effected by applying a light force P, Fig. 5, to collapse a stationary toggle 25 about the fixed axis of a spindle 35, thus moving radially outwards about a fixed pivot 29 on outwardly spring-loaded cam-shaped arm 28 bearing on a roller 22 on an arm 21 fast to the actuating shaft 20. The consequent engagement of the clutch 4 causes the roller 22 to complete its outward travel by riding over the cam-arm 28, rotation continuing until the roller 22 is struck back to its inner clutch-release brake-apply position by a stationary cam 34, Fig. 4, whilst a cam-profile 31 on the driven block 2 contacts a roller 33 to straighten the stationary toggle 25, moving the cam-arm 28 back to its idle position. The spindle 35 of the stationary toggle cam be turned manually to operate the toggle if required.
