1373545 Gearing; friction clutches; clutch control REVENUE SYSTEMS Ltd 14 Nov 1972 [16 Nov 1971] 53126/71 Headings F2Q F2C and F2L Oscillating motion of a pulley BA is produced from the continuous rotation of a driving shaft AW by the engagement of a clutch band BE secured to the pulley, with a driving drum AZ secured to the shaft AW, for a part of a revolution of the pulley BA, the pulley being returned to its original position by a cable BC acted on by spring means. The initial position of the pulley BA is defined by a stop pin BL fixed to it engaging a fixed rubber stop (Fig. 4, not shown). The engagement of the clutch is by rotation of a lever BG, Fig. 2, anticlockwise about a pivot BH, which rotation causes a cam follower BN to pass through a slot (Fig. 3, not shown), in a cylindrical cam band BU and move around the surface of the cam band BU as the pulley BA rotates, until a further slot is reached which the follower BN passes out through, urged by a spring BW, to disengage the clutch and allow the reverse rotation of the pulley by the cable BC. The actuation of the clutch is by a pin which acts on the follower BN to push it radially inwards when an electomagnet is operated. The device may be used in the production of reciprocating motion of a carriage.
