Abstract
1450546 Clutch control; spring powerstoring mechanisms XEROX CORP 21 Dec 1973 59532/73 Headings F2L and F2S A clutch, for effecting reciprocation of mirrors in an electrostatographic reproduction machine through a system of pulleys and cables (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown) comprises a driving member 41 which engages through a pawl 45 with a driven member 42 which moves the mirrors and winds up a coil spring (34) (Fig. 1) a member 50 having a pin 51 being driven by a belt drive 48 from the driving member 41 so that after more than one revolution of the clutch member 41 the pin 51 pivots the pawl 45 to disengage the clutch and allow the spring (34) to return member 42 to its initial position. The ratio of the diameters of pulleys 46 and 47 of the belt drive ensures that the member 42 oscillates back and forth through two revolutions of the driving member 41 as shown, a fixed surface 53 holding the pawl disengaged as driving member 41 rotates to permit the reverse rotation of the driven member through the more than one revolution.
