Abstract

1,098,248. Cine projectors. EUGEN BAUER G.m.b.H. June 2, 1965 [June 3, 1964], No.23443/65. Heading G2E. In a cine projector, separate drive elements are provided for forward and reverse running and for re-winding. Back to back freewheel couplings enable a drive motor to rotate a take-up spool, for forward running, when going in one direction of rotation and a re-wind spool when going in the opposite direction. One such freewheel coupling, between bush 35 and spring-urged member 36, allows the motor, in reverse, to transmit drive through belt 29, pulley 30 and slipping clutch 43, 44 to shaft 19 driving the re-wind spindle. For re-winding, the drive motor continues in reverse and slide 53 is moved to the left, to bring dogs 56 into engagement with cams 48 on pulley 30. This provides a rigid coupling between pulley 30 and shaft 19 thus speeding up the motion of the re-wind spindle by eliminating the slipping of clutch 43, 44. When the motor is stopped, the continued rotation of member 46, due to the inertia of the re-wind spool, throws the members 56 and 48 out of inter-engagement.
