802,208. Toothed gearing. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 1, 1955 [Dec. 2, 1954], No. 34968/54. Class 80 (1). [Also in Group XX] Drive of a shaft 2, such as the spool shaft of a film projector from a driving shaft 1 in one direction of rotation is effected through spiral gearing 3, 4 and a friction clutch 5. Drive back from the shaft 2 to shaft 1 in one direction moves shaft 1 axially into engagement with a frictional abutment 6 whilst in the opposite direction a spring coil brake 7 grips the shaft 1. This allows the spool shaft of a film projector to be driven freely for rewinding whilst for normal operation of towing by the film the film spool is subjected to the frictional load of clutch 5.
