Class 80 (2) [Also in Group XXXVIII] An over-running clutch comprises pawls 11. 12, 13 elastically pivoted at 14, 15, 16 to a disc 8, which is loosely mounted on a shaft 1, and frictionally engaging the shaft. The points of contact of the pawls and the shaft lie slightly ahead, in the direction of the arrow, of the radii passing through the pivotal axes of the pawls. The disc 8 can thus drive the shaft 1 in the direction of the arrow. A pulley 2 driven by a cord from a motor (not shown) is mounted on a stationary hub 4 which also supports the shaft 1. A pin 9 on the disc 8 engages a hole 10 in the pulley.
