Abstract
745,765. Motor driving arrangements. MARINE ENGINEERING CO. (STOCKPORT), Ltd., MANN, B. G., and SMITH, F. Oct. 12, 1954 [Oct. 15, 1953], No. 28435/53. Class 35. [Also in Group XXIV] One end of the rotor shaft 11 of an electric motor 10 has fixed to it a cone-shaped friction clutch member 13 and carries rotatably a driven, axially movable, clutch member 16 biased to the engaged position by a spring 17. Disengagement is effected against the spring bias by a lever 30, the driven clutch membei 16 simultaneously engaging with a brake surface 32 (see Group XXIV). The driven clutch member 16 is of massive construction, to give a flywheel effect, and a flywheel is also secured to the opposite end of the motor shaft 11. The exterior surface 16b of the driven clutch memis formed as a pulley and is engaged by a belt. To drive the belt at a higher speed, a flanged pulley member 16c having a belt engaging surface 16e of larger diameter is secured by screws 16d to the driven clutch member 16.
