Abstract
750,684. Friction clutches. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Aug. 24, 1954 [Sept. 14, 1953], No. 24626/54. Class 80(2) [Also in Group XXXV] A flywheel on a motor shaft carries fan blades and a friction surface for engagement with another friction member, the said flywheel surface being arranged as spaced arcuate portions. As shown, the driven member 25 of a sewing machine clutch is movable with shaft 21 by lever 31 to engage either a stationary but adjustable braking surface 27 or friction surface 44 on flywheel 38. The blades 42 on the flywheel draw air through passages 36 and expel it by apertures 37, and the surface 44 is split into four spaced arcuate portions.
