Abstract
433,788. Keyboard switches. CLAYTON, G. C. H., and THOMPSON, E. L., 1, Creed Lane, Doctors Commons, London. Feb. 19, 1934, No. 5468. [Class 38 (v)] [See also Group XXXVIII] The transmitter of an electric signalling system comprises rows of keys 5, 5<1>, 5<2> carrying loosely mounted cam followers 23 which co-operate with cams 12 mounted on geared shafts 11, 11<1>, 11<2>, driven by an electric motor. Each follower when depressed by its key is brought into the range of operation of the lever 10 of a pivoted mercury switch connected in the circuit of a signalling device. The cams of each shaft are set at different angles so that upon depression of a key in each row the corresponding signalling devices are operated repeatedly in a predetermined sequence. Each operated key is maintained in a depressed position by a spring latch which may be released by a release key. The driving motor circuit is closed manually but maintained automatically until a complete signal is terminated. Moreover when the motor circuit is opened a brake is operated to prevent further rotation of the motor shaft. Specification 427,040, [Group XXXVIII], is referred to.
