698,161. Hatch covers. AKTIEBOLAGET GOTAVERKEN. Nov. 7, 1951. [Dec. 11, 1950] No. 26069/51. Class 113 (i). In a hatch wherein the opening is covered by two foldably interconnected hatch cover sections 3, 4 hinged together at 5, one (3) of which is swingably secured by means of hinges 6 onto the coaming 2 surrounding the opening, while the other and entirely movable section (1) rests at the end thereof remote from the hinge side on the coaming through the intermediary of wheels 7, rollers of the like, the means for the operation of the hatch covers comprises two ropes 10 extending along the hatchway coaming, said ropes being attached to the entirely movable ' hatch cover section or to arms 9 depending therefrom and passing, when the hatch covers are closed, over fair]eads 14 arranged on the coaming, the upper edges of the fairleads being at a level higher than that of the points of attachment of the ropes to the hatch cover section, both ropes being at the hinge side of the coaming connected via blocks 15 swingably secured on the deck 1 to a tackle bv means of which substantially the same tractive effort can be applied to both ropes.
