Abstract

353,364. Hatches. MACGREGOR, R. and MAcGREGOR & KING, Ltd., 5, Lloyds Avenue, London. Dec. 3, 1930, No. 36445. [Class 113 (i).] Ships' hatch covers are formed in two or more parts of which one 1 hinges on the coaming and the other part 2 or parts slides on the coaming at a higher level than the hinged part so that it can be slid over the hinged part. To facilitate lifting the hinge pins 3 on the part 1 are arranged a little distance from the end so that this part has to be slid back to engage with the hinge sockets 5. The rollers 7 on which the sections run are mounted in eccentric bushes so that the weight of the sections can be taken on the watertight packing 8 on to which the sections are pressed by cleets 10 and clamping lugs 11. The section 1 is provided with positioning lugs for receiving the sliding members when the latter are stowed and hook fastenings are employed to secure the sections when extended.
