Abstract

598,621. Manhole covers. LONDON ALUMINIUM CO., Ltd., and CAMPBELL, J. D. Sept. 6, 1945, No. 22920. [Class 123 (i)] A manhole cover 4 for a tank 11 is supported from an arm 13, hinged to the tank, by a swing pin 7 which is mounted at one end on a pivot 6, located between a pair of lugs 5 at the centre of the cover, and is provided at the other end with an axially-movable handwheel. 8 coacting with the free end of said arm. The pin 7 passes through a transverse locking bar 9 which is provided with an extension 12 in the form of a bush rotatably mounted in the arm 13 and the ends of which are adapted to bear against the outer surface of the rim 10 of the manhole.
