Abstract

305,293. Whitehouse, H. W. Nov. 11, 1927. Springs. - A pivotally mounted ventilator flap 6 for use on road vehicles is provided with a blade or like spring 1 connected at one end to bracket 5 on the flap and at its other end to the frame 3 so that the line of pressure between the ends of the spring gives a turning moment to hold the flap in the closed and in the open positions. The flap is pivotally mounted at 7 and has side shields with an operating handle. As the flap is opened or closed the spring 1 is lowered and exerts a force tending to move the pivots 2, 4 apart. A wire spring may be used.
