Abstract
706,372. Valves. KOPPERS GES., H. Jan. 31, 1952 [Feb. 3, 1951], No. 2637/52. Class 135 A rotary cylindrical valve has its bearings yieldingly mounted in the housing ends and guided so that when wear occurs between the cylinder and its segmental seating, the cylinder axis is maintained in a vertical plane, and has spring means for keeping the cylinder and seat in contact. The rotary cylindrical valve 7, Figs. 1, 2, has its end spindles 10 carried in bearings 12 each having a flange 13 which is spring- pressed at 15, on to the valve housing end 16, to seal the spindle opening therethrough and which is slidable on the end between guides 22. The bearings are carried by the arms 28 of a yoke 26 pivoted at 33 on one side of the housing and loaded by a pair of springs 25 secured to the top of the other side at 24, so that the valve is pressed on its seat 2. With the valve closed, the valve passage 8 may be cleaned through a passage 6 when a cover 5 is opened. The valve is rotated by pressure-fluid supplied to two cylinders carried on one arm 28 and having a rack connecting their pistons and engaging a gearwheel on the valve spindle. A labyrinth seat 17 is provided on the ends 16 and/or the flange 13.
