Operating doors by springs; checks.-In a combined door spring and check of the kind having a liquid check cylinder c and a coiled closing spring arranged in an upper casing, the piston head h of the cylinder check is formed with a forwardly projecting table or plate h<2> upon which rests the connecting-rod g between the piston and crank pin f<3> of the operating spindle. The plate h extends across the cylinder for the full diameter of the piston and is formed with an inclined under part directed towards the inlet valves y in the piston head. The check valve j is formed as a plain stem adapted to be adjusted by a non-rotary sliding movement through the packing gland l<4>, the stem being swivelly connected at one end to a revoluble nut j<3> threaded to engage a screwed member l<2> of a sleeve l secured to the cylinder casing. The pin f<3> is the crank pin of an operating spindle extending through a door-closing spring mounted above the check cylinder.
