Abstract

396,673. Door-checks. THUILLIER, A., 31, Rue des Bois, Paris. Nov. 2, 1931, No. 30338. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 65 (i).] A fluid check device comprises a screw on which works a nut operating a piston in a check cylinder ; the device is preferably in the form of a hinge, as shown with the door open in the Figure. One part of the hinge has a barrel 3 in which fits a tube 2 forming the check cylinder. The other part has fixed to it a multiple-threaded screw 1 engaging a nut 5 which is integral with a check piston 8 ; the nut has wings 6 engaging in vertical slots in the tube 2 to prevent relative rotation. The piston is provided with a ball valve 18, and the lower end of the cylinder has an adjustable ball valve 11 for regulating the checking action. The valve 11 communicates with passages between the tubes 2, 3, formed by flats on the tube 3, leading to the annular space around the nut, from which the fluid passes through holes in the nut to the inside of the nut above the piston, being returned to the check cylinder through the valve 18 when the door is opened.
