Abstract

Operating and controlling doors by springs and checks.-The door pivot 1 carries a crank arm 2 connected to a member 5 slidable between arms 6 of a rocking member 7 operatively connected to the plunger 15 of a check cylinder 16 pivotally mounted at 29, and the member 7 is adapted to rock about either of the roller trunnions 8 according to which way the door is opened. A roller 3 on the arm 2 is adapted to engage either of the levers 9 mounted on pivots 10, the opening of the door moving one of these levers against the action of a spring 11. The construction of the check is shown in Fig. 6. The cylinder 16 rocks about trunnions 29, oil or other check fluid being freely drawn into the cylinder through a non-return valve 19 as the door is opened. When the door is closing, the check fluid can only escape through a restricted passage 20 and against the action of a spring-pressed valve 21. The pressure of this spring is adjustable by a screwed member 25. The whole device is enclosed in a casing 12 filled with oil or grease. The cylinder is adjustably mounted in the trunnions 29 by a screw-threaded portion of the cylinder engaging a threaded portion 28.
