Abstract

Operating doors by springs; checks.-In a combined floor spring and check the spindle 1 turned by the door is provided with a crank 7 and roller 18 engaging a cam slot or groove 17 in a slidable part 16 rigidly connected to the check plunger 13, the spindle also having a second roller 8 on an arm 6 to engage with a spring-pressed lever 9 for returning the door to its closed position. As shown, the levers 9 are pivotally mounted at 10 and are normally forced together by a ring-like spring 12. The plunger 13 is recessed to house a spring-pressed ball valve 25 which is moved from its seating to allow the check fluid to escape by the passage 24 when the pressure in the check cylinder is excessive, as when the door is closed forcibly by hand. When the door is being opened, oil is drawn into the check cylinder through the non-return ball valve 21, the discharge when the door is closing being regulated by an adjustable needle valve 22.
