Abstract

214,468. Cockburns, Ltd., Cockburn, D., and MacNicoll, D. May 5, 1923. Stop-gear.-In stop-gear of the kind wherein a relay valve subjected to the pressure of the lubricating-oil controls a cut-off valve, a hand or automatically-operated combined piston and lift valve is arranged in the relay-valve supply. The valve 3 is normally held in the position shown by an adjustable spring 4 and the pressure of the lubricating-oil which has access to the back thereof through a duct 8. A passage 7 permits the passage of oil to the relay valve (not shown). When the oil pressure falls, the valve 3 moves to the right, closes passage 7, and raises a coned portion 10 on the valve from a seat 11 to connect passages 1 and 2 to permit rapid operation of the relay-valve. The valve may be manually operated by a lever 12.
