Abstract

156,351. Snell, G. Oct. 17, 1919. Operating and controlling doors by springs and checks of the kind comprising a casing adpated to be sunk in the floor containing a spring-urged slide co-operating with a cam member mounted upon the door pivot journaled within the casing. A cam 9 is mounted on the door pivot 4, its shoulders 10 engaging rollers 11 carried by the slide member 12 which reciprocates in guides 13. The slide is connected by a rod 14 with the piston 15 working in the cylinder 16. The piston is provided with a packing-ring 18 and the cylinder with packing-glands 21 and 23, which maintain the cylinder fluid-tight in operation. Between the front face of the piston and the rear end of the cylinder is disposed an operating- spring 17. A screw-threaded disc 19 having a shank 20 with tommy holes 22 allows adjustment of the spring compression from without. A ball check-valve prevents return of the fluid on opening the door and a restricted passage regulates its return on closing. Specification 4321/04 is referred to.
