Abstract

510,662. Door-operating appliances. NEWMAN & SONS, Ltd, W., and ROLLASON, S. A. Dec. 19, 1938, No. 36870. [Class 65 (i)] In a door-operating appliance comprising springs 2 for closing the door and a fluid check 15, 17 for controlling the closing, a pair of cams 3, 4 are mounted on the door spindle 5, the cam 3 compressing the springs through a slide 6 and crosshead 6a, which the cam 4 controls the movement of a slide 12, 12a connected to the piston rods 18 of the fluid check and actuated by a spring 14. The check cylinders 15 are connected to the crosshead 6a so that during the opening of the door the cylinders 15 and pistons 17 move in opposite directions. During the closing of the door, the fluid escapes from the cylinders through restricted passages in screw plugs 21.
