Abstract

517,759. Door-operating appliances. ROWLEY, Ltd., W., and SANEY, J. Feb. 7, 1939, No. 21803. Divided out of 512,126. [Class 65 (i)] In. door-operating appliances of the kind comprising a vertical spindle 14 connected to the door, and adapted, when the door is opened, to displace a thrust member against spring action tending to close the door, such closing being retarded by a fluid check device, rotation of the door spindle causes axial movement of the check piston 42 and cylinder 43 relatively to one another and to the housing 5. The thrust member 18 is actuated by crank pins 16 on the spindle 14, and acts on the springs 32 through levers 22. The check piston 42 is actuated by a crank pin 17, and the cylinder 43 moves oppositely to the piston with the thrust member 18 and may be formed therein. During the opening of the door, fluid enters the cylinder through a valve 48, and during the closing movement the fluid escapes at first through a port 47 and then through an adjustable port 44.
