Abstract

Operating doors by springs; checks.-In a floor spring, the longitudinally-extending check cylinder h is formed with an intermediate circular or similar chamber l approximately equal in depth to the diameter of the cylinder and arranged so that its axial central line is at right angles to that of the cylinder, the check device controlling the action of the closing spring or springs through crank or equivalent parts connected with the door pivot. As shown, the door pivot a is positioned in a corner of the floor box, and carries an arm c the roller c<1> of which engages one side of a lever e mounted on a pivot d in an adjacent corner of the box. A closing spring f engages in a rotor e<1> on the other side of the lever e, the other end of the spring being fixed to a pivot g<1>. A screw g<2> on a screwed pin g provides for the adjustment of the spring. A link k<3> connects the arm c with the crank arm k<2> of the check spindle k<1>, and this spindle is connected with the piston by a rod j<1>. In Fig. 6, an extension of the arm c carries a pin p engaging a slotted link q, to which the check link k<3> is attached, as shown. The spring f engages an extension e<2> of the link e. In a modification, the chamber l is of semi-circular shape in plan view. The door pivot may be fitted with a cam engaging a slide to compress the spring, instead of using a lever e.
