Abstract
688,941. Slide valves. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS Ltd., and RICHARDSON, J. H. Oct. 8, 1951 [Oct. 31, 1950], No. 26528/50. Class 135. A slide valve comprises a housing having cover plates 10, 11, formed with unions 22, 23 for connection in a pipe line and spaced apart by a body member 12 housing a closure member 15 formed by discs 16 urged apart by a spring 21 against the inner faces of the cover plates. The discs 16 are embraced by a carrier member 17 having a lug 17a pivotally connected at 20 to a crank arm 18 operable by a spindle 19 from outside the housing to open and close the valve. In the closed position of the valve the centres of the discs 16, the pivotal connection 20 and the axis of the spindle 19 are all in alignment.
