Abstract
1,062,279. Valves. C. RAMSDEN. Aug. 4, 1964 [July 24, 1963], No. 30973/64. Heading F2V. The closure of a non-return valve member 7 is retarded by a piston 15 in a cylinder 16, the piston being connected to the member 17 by a pivoted lever 11. The retardation is effected by means of fluid, which passes between compartment 2 and the cylinder 16 by means of holes 20 at either end of the cylinder. Alternatively, the cylinder may be connected through adjustable cocks to the outside of the housing. In a further arrangement, the cylinder 16 is outside the housing 1 and is connected to the member 7 by means of a lever 13 outside the housing fixed to pivot 12, the member 7 also being connected by lever 10 to pivot 12. In this case, air which passes to and from the cylinder through holes 20 causes the damping effect. Resilient sealing material 8 is provided whilst a resilient buffer 18 abuts with a stop 19 in the fully open position of the valve.
