Abstract

999,504. Valves. BIRFIELD ENGINEERING Ltd. Oct. 9, 1961 [Oct. 8, 1960], No. 34558/60. Heading F2V. A valve comprises a closure member 18, mounted on a rod 17 connected to a diaphragm 6 which is subject to fluid pressure in a direction to urge the member to the closed position, the closure member being opened against the effect of the fluid pressure by means of a handle 20. In use, fluid under pressure is fed via an inlet 9 into a chamber 7, thereby moving the diaphragm so as to close the valve 18, the chamber 8 being open to atmosphere.
