Abstract
923,562. Valves. GEORGE ELLISON Ltd. Jan. 9, 1962 [Jan. 26, 1961], No. 3046/61. Class 135. A valve comprises a hollow closure 23 having limited axial movement on an actuator 12, which may be manually, fluid-pressure or electromagnetically operated, with a spring 25 loaded between the closure and actuator, one closure end 23a co-operating with a seat 4b and having a passage 23c whereby fluid passes to a cylinder 1e containing the other end of the closure as a piston whereby the closure is pressure-balanced in opposite axial directions. As shown, rotation of handle 16 and screw 13 lowers a head 20 until spring 25 fully loads closure 23 on to its seat 4b to close e.g. exhaust port 3 from motor port 2. Rotation of rod 12 and screw 12a also lowers head 17 and spring 24, whereby a balanced valve 22, similar to 23, opens the supply port 3 to the motor port 2.
